Commissioner McCurdy, NFL Green & Partners to Celebrate Super-Kids Sharing Event on Thursday at Pearson Center

Clark County Commission Vice Chairman William McCurdy II and the Department of Parks and Recreation are welcoming NFL Green and community partners to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the NFL’s Super Kids-Super Sharing donation project on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Dr. William U. Pearson Community Center, 1625 W. Carey Ave. in North Las Vegas.

Clark County and Henderson parks and recreation centers, and local schools and YMCA branches began collecting donations in December of new and gently used sports equipment, books and school supplies for children in underserved communities. The donation drive culminates at the Pearson Center on Thursday when students and donation drive coordinators will drop off items at the center beginning at 9 a.m.  and youth-focused recipient organizations will get to select items later in the day.  A brief thank-you ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to thank participating students and community organizations. The NFL’s Super Kids-Super Sharing program has shared hundreds of thousands of items with children in Super Bowl host communities since its inception.

“The Super-Kids Super Sharing program is one of the many ways the NFL gives back to communities that host the Super Bowl,” said Commissioner McCurdy, whose Commission District D includes the Pearson Center. “Clark County is proud to team up with NFL Green and our many community partners to improve the lives of children in our community. We especially want to thank the children and families throughout the Las Vegas Valley for their generosity and desire to help others by participating whole heartedly in this donation effort.”

Hundreds of students from donating schools will arrive from 9 a.m. to noon to drop off and help sort items, and then enjoy activities provided by the Las Vegas Raiders. The Super Kids-Super Sharing event is one of several Super Bowl “Green Week” activities taking place in the community this week leading up to the game.
