Clark County Increases Investment in Affordable Housing with Additional $70 Million

Clark County announced two new funding rounds totaling $70 million for the construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing in the region through the County’s Welcome Home. In 2022, Clark County made a historic investment in affordable housing through $120 million in Welcome Home funds to build or maintain 3,000 housing units.

This year, Welcome Home will allocate $20 million toward affordable permanent supportive housing developments for the most vulnerable in our community and $50 million of Community Housing Funds toward permanent affordable rental housing. Additional information on these funding opportunities will be available later Summer and Fall.

“Clark County continues to make historic investments in affordable housing through our Welcome Home program because we know the need in our community is great and availability in our current housing market is limited,” said Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson. “We know these developments do not come along quickly, but we are focused on permanent solutions for our region and these investments help us to achieve this goal. As information is made available in the coming months about how to apply for this funding, I would encourage developers who are looking to make a meaningful impact in our region to apply.”

On April 5, 2022, Welcome Home was created through a Board action to allocate up to $160 million to support the development and rehabilitation of affordable housing units across southern Nevada for low-income families, seniors, and those who are working, but unable to find affordable housing.  On September 6, 2022, the Board approved nearly $120 million of the Welcome Home allocation.
