Closure of Portion of Fort Apache Road Announced in Southwest Valley as Improvement Project Begins March 18

Starting Monday, March 18, a portion of Fort Apache Road will be closed in both directions for about 90 days from Raven Avenue (south of Pebble Road) to Blue Diamond Road as construction begins for a series of improvements on Fort Apache Road in the Southwest Valley.

The $13.2 million project includes installation of new box culverts and storm drains, new streetlights, signage, utility adjustments, and roadway widening and resurfacing improvements on Fort Apache Road between Huntington Cove Parkway and Blue Diamond Road. As part of the project, Fort Apache Road will be widened to two lanes in both directions. A bike lane will be added on both sides of the road, and a new traffic signal will be constructed at Fort Apache and Ford Avenue. A portion of Presley Glenn Avenue east of Fort Apache Road will also be widened and restriped.

“Our Public Works Department is committed to keeping the public updated about lane restrictions and other impacts due to this project,” said Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, whose Commission District F includes the area. “It’s never easy to navigate construction work but these improvements are very much needed in this growing part of our southwest valley. Residents who live and work in this area will see a big difference when this work is complete net year.”

Information about the project is on Clark County’s Department of Public Works website at https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/departments/public_works_department/fort_apache_rd.php. The estimated completion date for the project is spring 2025. Hours for most construction work is expected to occur between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Due to the fluid nature of road work activity, motorists are advised that construction schedules and travel can change on short notice. Motorists should check navigation apps such as Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps for the latest real-time information as they head out.
