GIS Data Subscriptions
Data sharing is central to the success of GIS in Southern Nevada. There are four methods in which the GIS Management Office (GISMO) provides data. The first, GIS Interlocal Agreements is only available to local governmental agencies. The other three methods are available to public citizens and private companies: Downloadable Free GIS Data, the sale of GIS Data Products and the option listed on this page which is characterized as GIS Data Subscriptions.
Characteristics of private individuals and/or companies who may be interested in purchasing a GIS Data Subscription include:
- those who do not qualify as a local government and, therefore, cannot become a GIS Interlocal Participant.
- those users who have data requirements that cannot be met by through the Downloadable GIS Data Sets.
- those performing a variety of analyses throughout Clark County where up-to-date property ownership and/or landuse information is a priority and, therefore, the cost can be justified based on the benefit to their particular organization.
Those interested in annual subscriptions to the Southern Nevada GIS data warehouse will be required to submit a GIS Data Subscriber License Agreement and provide a memo authored on company letter head, and signed by a licensed user, stating that the Company/Agency understands that the data may not be resold, and is attained solely for the use of that Company/Agency. With these forms, and the annual fee of $17,500, subscribers will receive weekly updates to all of the GIS data in the Clark County Central Repository data warehouse including Assessor's property ownership.
In addition to traditional GIS data sets (both tabular and geospatial data), subscribers will also receive aerial photography updates as the data becomes available. The Las Vegas Valley and the outlying urban areas are flown to produce one foot color photography. All flights are depicted on the Aerial Priorities Map. The color photography is rectified using the parcel layer and usually has a horizontal shift of no more than ten feet. As the data sets are large, GISMO requires the dissemination of aerial photography to be made via a hard drive. When available, a hard drive can be supplied by the GISMO to facilitate the data transfer, however, it is preferred that the subscriber provide a hard drive to GISMO which will then be loaded with the digital imagery.
