Lynn Marie Goya was elected to the office of Clark County Clerk and has been in office since January 2015. When she uncovered the 37 percent decrease in wedding tourism over the past decade, she immediately reached out to the wedding industry, the LVCVA, the State Tourism Board and the State Legislature. Her bill to promote wedding tourism unanimously passed out of the State Senate and is now in the Assembly.
In 1997, she founded The Youth Advocacy Council that won “Best New Group” from the JCPenny/United Way Golden Rules Award for her work advocating for after-school Youth Centers for middle school children. She has launched and served on the board of many organizations promoting women including the AAUW, Emerge Nevada and Create a Change Now.
With degrees in English and Economics from San Diego State University, she became a professional writer and editor, publishing numerous books and hundreds of articles about women & girls, the environment, architecture and design, arts & entertainment and veterans. She is an award-winning playwright, an Emmy-nominated writer, received the Frederick L. Ryan Award for Economics and is a recognized community activist. She is the mother of three 20-something children and wife of 32 years to Alan Goya, a noted local portrait and landscape photographer.
