Jeff Wells was appointed as Assistant County Manager in December 2007.  His responsibilities include working with the County’s judicial departments, public defenders, appointed counsel, juvenile justice, coroner’s office, family services, constables, Las Vegas Metropolitan Citizen's Review Board and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Sheriff's office).

Prior to his appointment as Assistant County Manager, Mr. Wells served as the County’s Director of Administrative Services.  

Mr. Wells is a lawyer by training and has a juris doctorate degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Florida State University, and a bachelor’s in mathematics from Duke University.  

Mr. Wells has over 30 years experience in government including administrative law judge, executive director of the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration and executive director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. 

Mr. Wells served in the Colorado State Senate for 16 years and was Senate Majority Leader for 12 years.  Mr. Wells serves on the following committees:  Indigent Defense Commission, Juvenile Justice Detention Alternatives Initiative, Policy and Fiscal Affairs Committee for the departments of Juvenile Justice and Family Services, and represents County management on the Metro Fiscal Affairs Committee.
