The Walnut Recreation Center’s fitness room offers comprehensive strength and conditioning equipment at a reasonable price. Memberships may be purchased on a monthly or yearly basis, without long-term contracts or enrollment fees. Equipment includes: treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, free weights, dumbbells and resistance machines for arms, legs, chest and back.

Passes are to be used for basketball play only, between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the week. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Monthly passes may be purchased for $12, yearly passes for $80.

The “Happy Our Time” social is a fun and interactive time for patrons ages 50 and over, and we are bringing it back in a big way. Planned activities are field trips, guest speakers, games, music, snacks, and good conversations with friends just to name a few.

Join in on the holiday fun and good cheer.  We will be touring the town, viewing many of the homes decorated with the holiday spirit.  We will dine out first, then go on tour.  Please register at the Front Desk.

English Second Language (Inglis Segundo Idioma) - ESL
Walnut Recreation Center offers free ongoing E.S.L. classes (English Second Language).  For registration and exam information please call (702) 651-4487.  El Centro de Recreacion Walnut estava ofreciendo clases de Ingles.  Para inscripciones y examen llamar  (702) 651-4487.  

General Education Development – GED
Walnut Recreation Center offers free ongoing G.E.D. classes.  These classes will help to gain your General Equivalency Diploma.  For registration and exam information, please call (702) 651-4487.  

Room Rentals
Walnut Recreation Center invites you to spend your special occasions (Weddings, baby showers, meetings, etc . . .) here and explore our many special event possibilities.  We have several affordable rooms for rent and are able to accommodate groups of varying sizes.  We encourage you to visit the center to see what we have to offer.  

Meeting Rooms A, B, & C (Holds up to 50 people per room, or 150 for all three rooms.) $60 – First two (2) hours per room    $20 – Each hour after first two (2) hours per room
Kitchen
$40 – First two (2) hours            $20 – Each hour after first two (2) hours

Gymnasium
$100 – First two (2) hours            $40 – Each hour after first two (2) hours

  • Minimum of two staff may be required per rental at $15.00 per hour per staff.  These charges apply to all rentals.
  • When submitting a rental request form, please include set up, event, and cleanup times. 
  • No alcohol or illegal substances allowed on property
  • A refundable cleaning/damage deposit (check or money order – no cash) is required on day of rental, and can be returned immediately after event if the rental space is cleaned and restored back to it’s original condition.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball with topics to include: Teamwork, sportsmanship & having fun! Practice will be on Mondays, with games scheduled for Wednesday evenings. For additional information or if interested in becoming a volunteer coach, please contact the Walnut Recreation Center 455-8402.  This activity will take place in the gym.

After School Program

This program provides fun and structured recreational activities. Prior to attending, a parent or guardian must complete an enrollment form for his/her child.  Child (ren) 12 and older will receive a personal ID card to swipe daily to participate in this program.  Replacement cards are $2 each.  During summer, program time is from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  

After School Tutorial Program

Join us each Monday night to watch the football game of the week! Prior to attending, participants must have a Clark County Parks & Recreation participation waiver on file.

This program provides fun and supervised recreational activities for youth ages 6 – 17 years old, free of charge. Prior to attending, participants must have a Clark County Parks & Recreation participation waiver on file.  

Teen Leaders of the Future
Participant must apply for the Leader of the Future Program and be accepted before enrolling the Summer Leadership Teen Camp. Teen leaders will focus on leadership development, job training skills, team building, peer-to-peer effective communication, conflict resolution, decision-making activities, and social recreation. Peace Week
January 19, 20, and 21

Registration Dates: Monday, December 20, 2010 – Friday, January 14, 2010This is a Walnut Recreation Center and Cambridge Recreation Center Collaboration. This is a three-day workshop for teens. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about cultural awareness, diversity, stereotypes, understanding their rights, and how to make a difference in their community.
