Michele W. Shafe was re-elected Clark County Assessor on November 4, 2014.  Prior to being elected in 2010, she was the Assistant Director of Assessment Services in the Clark County Assessor's Office for over 13 years.  Before joining the Assessor's Office in 1996, Shafe was a Senior Financial Analyst for the Clark County Finance Department,  and was with the Finance Department for over nine years.  Shafe holds a Property Tax Appraiser Certificate in both real and personal property from the State of Nevada.

As Assessor, Michele oversees the Administration and assessment of over 750,000 parcels, 25,000 manufactured homes, and 44,000 businesses in Clark County.  In addition, she supervises the processing of over 62,000 Veterans, Surviving Spouses, and Blind Property Tax Exemptions. 

Shafe is active with Toastmasters International as a Distinguished Toastmaster, and served as Division C Director for District 33 in 2015-2016.  She has been active with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, having served for eight years on the Board of Directors, four years as Executive Vice President.  Shafe is also active with the Junior League of Las Vegas serving on their Sustainer Board of Directors as Holiday Coffee Co-chair and member of the Bear Committee.  Shafe is a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Las Vegas Class of 2001.

Professional affiliations include the International Association of Assessing Officers, American Society for Public Administration, Nevada Government Finance Officers Association, and the Nevada Assessors' Association. 

Shafe is a longtime Las Vegan who graduated from Chaparral High School.  She went on to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees. 

 

 

         Briana Johnson

Briana Johnson has proudly served the public for over 20 years in the Assessor's Office.  She has held various positions in the Appraisal Division, including Manager of Property Appraisal.  Briana has been Assistant Director of Assessment Services since 2016.

Ms. Johnson is a native of Las Vegas who graduated from Valley High School.  She later attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Briana holds a Property Tax Appraiser Certificate in both real and personal property from the State of Nevada.

Her professional affiliations include the International Association of Assessing Officers and the Nevada Assessors' Association.  Ms. Johnson is also a member of Toastmasters International. 

 

 

Doug Scott
Assistant Director
Clark County Assessor's Office

Doug Scott has been Assistant Director of Assessment Services since 2014.  During his 20+ years of experience with the Assessor's Office, he has also served as a property appraiser and a manager of property appraisal.

Scott became a Las Vegas resident in 1985 after graduating from Christopher Newport University in Virginia with a bachelor's degree in marketing.  He started his career with Clark County bringing prior experience in hotel management and business computer sales.  Scott has a MBA degree and is certified in real and personal property appraisal by the State of Nevada.

His affiliations include the Nevada Assessor's Association and the International Association of Assessing Officers.
