A Community Land Trust (CLT) opens doors to homeownership for individuals who are unable to afford the high prices of the current housing market. In a CLT, the land beneath the homes is owned by the CLT, and homeowners own the home itself.
This innovative "shared equity" model creates access to homeownership for low to moderate-income homebuyers. Upon resale of the home, the CLT ensures the homes are available for future generations of homeowners. CLTs play a pivotal role in maintaining long-term affordability and stability within communities.
