2017 Month-to-Month Performance Summary
The office investigates all deaths by violence, criminal means, suicide, or any unattended death, regardless of cause. Certified Medicolegal Investigators respond to scenes and perform death investigations that include taking custody of the decedent(s), interviewing witnesses and family members, establishing legal next of kin, making death notifications, securing personal property, and confirming positive identification. Board Certified Forensic Pathologists conduct examinations and determine the cause and manner of death. Forensic technicians assist with the examinations and positive identifications. Administrative personnel manage the administration of the office and create electronic death registration records. The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner is the only coroner's office in the United States that is accredited by both the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners (IAC&ME) and the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME).
