Monitoring Reports
What Types Of Reports Are Generated By Monitoring Operations?
On an annual basis, monitoring operations are reported to EPA in two reports:
Annual Network Plan: is submitted by July 1 and reports on the status of the air monitoring network for the previous calendar year. In addition, the plan proposes changes planned for the upcoming year.
Annual Data Certification: is submitted by May 1 and officially states that all data collected during the previous calendar year has been submitted to EPA and is usable for EPA regulatory uses. In addition, the certification identifies and explains any problems related to the quality and quantity of the data.
On a 5-year basis, the network is assessed for effectiveness and consistency with national monitoring policy and practice.
Five Year Network Assessment: The first of the assessments was completed in June 2010. The assessment incorporates EPA analysis, statistical and modeling analysis, regulatory analysis, third party consultant analysis, and a budget analysis. Recommendations are made related to closing monitoring sites and evaluating new locations for monitoring sites.
