  Sr. Deputy Fire Chief Erik Newman  

Chief Erik Newman most recently served as Acting Fire Chief from December 2014 until February 2015. This responsibility was added to his duties as Sr. Deputy Fire Chief. He was hired by the Clark County Fire Department as a Deputy Fire Chief on December 15, 2011.

Prior to his appointment by Fire Chief Washington, he was a Battalion Fire Chief with the City of Richmond, Calif., from September 2004 to December 2011. Chief Newman’s career with the fire service dates back to May 1990, with the Chevron Fire Department located in Richmond and included assignments as Lieutenant, Fire Engineer, and Firefighter. In October of 1995, Chief Newman was hired by the Richmond Fire Department as a Firefighter.

He progressed through the ranks of Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, and Training and Special Operations Chief. During his tenure with the Richmond Fire Department, Chief Newman was responsible for Telestaff, HazMat Training/Coordination and Fire Dispatch. Chief Newman also served as an Operations Chief, Logistics Officer and Safety Officer on a Type III Incident Management.
