 NEW:

Justice Courts determine whether felony and gross misdemeanor cases have enough evidence to be bound over to District Court for trial.

Justice Courts hear misdemeanor non-traffic cases as well as general civil cases (amounts up to $10,000), small claims (up to $7,500), summary eviction cases, and requests for temporary and extended protective orders (stalking and harassment).

Henderson Justice Court handles traffic citations issued by the Nevada Highway Patrol, Henderson Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Union Pacific Railroad, Public Service Commission, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Motor Carrier Division, Clark County School District Police and the Clark County Park Rangers.

The Justices of the Peace are elected and serve six year terms within the townships in which they reside.
