The 19-acre Sunrise Picnic Area in the Wetlands Park is open daily from dawn to dusk. To access the picnic area, travel east on Vegas Valley Drive then turn south on to Hollywood. Follow the road for 2.5 miles to where the pavement ends.

Facilities available for public use include picnic tables, a restroom, a small corral for horses, and three parking areas one of which can accommodate horse trailers. Drinking water is not available.

Private lands within the area are not available for public use. Design plans for designated trails that bypass private property in this area are under review. Trail construction will begin with approval of these design plans.

Hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians wishing to recreate in the Rainbow Gardens, Lava Butte, and Kodachrome on the Bureau of Land Management lands to the north of the picnic area are invited to stage at the Sunrise Picnic Area. The picnic area is also a linkage in the Flamingo Arroyo Trail.
