The Clark County District Attorney Family Support Division (DAFS) has received the Most Outstanding Program Award from the Western Interstate Child Support Enforcement Council (WICSEC). This award recognizes a state, regional, county, or tribal program that has consistently and comprehensively exemplified the best in child support enforcement, through an outstanding record of performance and by providing effective services to its constituency and its community.
"This program has risen from last in the country just seven years ago, to the successful, award-winning program, we have today," said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson. "A strong management team, excellent staff, outreach efforts, community partnerships, improvements in customer service, and commitment to continuing to help the families in our community are just some of the reasons we have been recognized with this award."
Since 2009, Nevada has risen in the national rankings from 54th to 23rd. Clark County DAFS handles approximately 54,000 cases annually, which is over 57 percent of Nevada's overall caseload. In the last year, a record-breaking $126,842,080 was collected on behalf of Clark County children.
"I am very proud of the hard-working, compassionate and dedicated employees in our family support division," said Family Support Director, Jeff Witthun. "We have over 290 employees who are focused on working with parents to assist them in fulfilling their obligation to support their children and stay connected to them."
