8/2/2017 - D.A. Family Support Division Offers Compromise in Child Support Cases

The Family Support Division of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office is opening its doors outside of normal business hours, hosting a week-long event (including Saturday hours) to assist non-custodial parents with their child support cases.

From Monday, August 7, 2017 through Saturday, August 12, 2017, D.A. Family Support staff will be on-hand from 8am to 4pm at the Child Support Center of Southern Nevada, located at 1900 E. Flamingo Road, Suite 100, to meet with parents about their individual cases.

Non-custodial parents who have had their driver’s license suspended, or are currently under a bench warrant because they are behind in their child support payments, can come in to the office and meet with a case manager without the fear of being arrested. They will have the opportunity to pay just fifty percent of the bail or suspension amount to have their license reinstated and/or their bench warrant eliminated. Payments made in this compromise offer may be in cash, money order, cashier’s check or credit/debit card. Parents who are otherwise behind in their payments and would like to discuss their case are also encouraged to take advantage of this special event.

"We want to invite any non-custodial parent who is behind in making their child support payments to come in and meet with our staff to work out a compromise that will allow them to get back on track," said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson. "We understand that people fall on hard times and get into situations where they see no way to get out, but we want them to know there are options and we are willing to work with them to get the best results for their children."

Additional services will be available during the event as well: Ask-A-Lawyer, Modification Workshops, Access/Visitation Assistance and Social Work Assistance. The public can call (702) 671-9200 if they have any questions.

NOTES: District Attorney Steve Wolfson and D.A. Family Support Director Jeffrey Witthun will be on hand for interviews between 10am and 11am on Saturday, August 12. Additionally, interviews can be scheduled with D.A. Wolfson throughout the week by emailing Media@ClarkCountyDA.com
