1/15/2016 - Woman Accused of Killing Young Girl in 2012 Pleads Guilty

Brenda Stokes Wilson was indicted in February of 2013 for the December 2012 murder of 10-year-old Jade Morris, and the attempted murder of Joyce Rhone.  Yesterday, the defendant entered guilty pleas in open court to all of the charges against her, including Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Attempt Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, First Degree Kidnapping with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Burglary while in Possession of a Deadly Weapon and Mayhem with Use of a Deadly Weapon.

The defendant agreed to the maximum punishment for each charge, ensuring that she will spend the rest of her life in prison.

"Prior to this agreement being reached, we consulted with Ms. Rhone, and the family of little Jade.  All of them supported this resolution to the case," said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson.  "As part of her plea, Ms. Wilson has waived all of her rights to appeal, and will never be released from prison.  We believe that justice has been served."
