Clark County Commissioners recognized, during the May 15, 2012 County Commission meeting, four Clark County Fire Department personnel for their heroic actions that saved the lives of five people trapped in a burning three-story building.

On March 10, 2012, the Clark County Fire Department was dispatched to the Parkview Point Apartments, 3665 Cambridge St. Twenty-one units, for a total responding personnel of 43 people, were sent to fight the blaze.

When the Rescue Group assigned to Truck 18 arrived on scene, they discovered a family trapped on the second floor balcony as flames coming from the first floor licked at the second, threatening the people's lives. The Rescue Group quickly put a 28-foot ladder in place to safely bring the family down to safety.

While in the middle of the rescue, firefighters noticed a second family trapped in another apartment unit on their second-floor balcony. They quickly manuevered the extension ladder and made the second rescue. Saved in the fire were four adults and one child.

Crew members Fire Captain Dennis Williamson, Fire Engineer John Fish, Firefighter Cody Beaman and Firefighter Shawn Iverson each received plagues of appreciation for their dedication to a service career that saves lives.
