Airport Connector at I-215 to Close for Evening, Overnight Work Aug. 5-15
Construction of a bridge expansion project will result in closures of northbound and southbound lanes of the Airport Connector at the I-215 at different times over the next two weeks.
Workers hired by Clark County Public Works are putting formwork into place to support the expansion of the bridge over the Airport Connector as part of a larger project to provide additional travel lanes in each direction on I-215 between Interstate 15 and Windmill Lane. At various times from Sunday, Aug. 5 through Thursday, Aug. 16, motorists will encounter closures of the Airport Connector starting at 7 p.m., with the roadway being reopened by 5 a.m.
Northbound motorists will be directed to take posted detours to the Warm Springs Road off-ramp, where traffic will be directed east on Warm Springs and then back to the I-215 heading west to the Airport Connector Tunnel. On dates when southbound access is restricted, drivers will be detoured to exit the Airport Connector at Hidden Wells Road, turn left (south) on Gilespie Street, then left (east) onto Warm Springs, where they can re-enter the eastbound I-215. The tunnel north of I-215 leading into the airport will remain open during this work. The work schedule is as follows:
- From 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, until 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6; and from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 until 5 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7: Southbound Airport Connector at the 215 will be closed.
- From 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8; and from 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9: Northbound Airport Connector at the 215 will be closed.
- From 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13; and from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14: Southbound Airport Connector at the 215 will be closed.
- From 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15; and from 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16: Northbound Airport Connector at the 215 will be closed.
The airport connector bridge is the first of five bridges that will be expanded as part Clark County Public Works’ federally funded I-215 Airport Connector Phase 1. The project started in January and is expected to be complete in January 2014. Bridges over Paradise Road, Warm Springs Road, Robindale Road and Duck Creek also will be expanded as part of the project.
