Chris Lee named Chief Judge of North Las Vegas Justice Court

North Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Chris Lee has been named Chief Judge of North Las Vegas Justice Court. His two-year term will begin January 7.

Justice courts with three or more judges elect a chief judge. Judge Chris Lee will oversee North Las Vegas Justice Court, working with former Chief Judge Natalie Tyrrell and newly elected Judge Kalani Hoo, who replaced Stephen Dahl after he retired in 2012.

“It’s important North Las Vegas Justice Court be an effective and efficient organization, one that works for the people of North Las Vegas and Clark County.” Lee said. “I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of strong leadership that Judge Tyrrell provided.”

Judge Chris Lee holds the Department 3 Justice of the Peace position and has served the North Las Vegas Township since January 2009. He is also currently an Officer in the United States Air Force Reserves JAG Corp.  Prior to his election to the bench, Judge Lee served as Deputy Secretary of State for Southern Nevada. Prior to that, Judge Lee spent 7 years with the Clark County District Attorney’s office, working in the Civil and Criminal Divisions and serving as a Deputy District Attorney with the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Unit and Driving Under the Influence Unit as a Criminal Prosecutor.

Judge Lee grew up here in Southern Nevada and graduated from Bishop Gorman High School.  He went on to attend Occidental College where he achieved Dean’s List Honors. After graduating from Occidental College, Judge Lee attended Santa Clara University Law School. While at Santa Clara, Judge Lee was named a Law Faculty Scholar and held the position of Visiting Student at Loyola Law School (Los Angeles). Judge Lee is married and the proud father of two children.

Justice Court handles misdemeanors, traffic matters, felony arraignments, civil disputes under $10,000, small claims and landlord tenant disputes.
