Families in Need Invited to May 15 Resource Event; Donations, Volunteers Needed Too 

Homeless and low-income families are strongly encouraged to attend the Family Connect Summer Resource Fair that will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the East Las Vegas Senior Community Center at 250 N. Eastern Ave.

The event will give families the opportunity to connect with local agencies and organizations that provide assistance in a variety of areas such as childcare, housing, healthcare and job readiness.

Event organizers are still accepting donations of items that will be given to the families that attend the event. The donation wish list includes toys, first-aid kits, canned food, diapers, formula and personal hygiene items. For information about donating items please contact Michele Smith at fortheleastofthese@cox.net or at (702) 324-6850. Donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers are needed to assist with setting up for the event, checking in families that attend, and the distribution of the donated items to the families. To register as a volunteer got to www.volunteercentersn.org.

Family Connect is being organized by the Nevada Homeless Alliance with the support of the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition’s Regional Initiatives Office, Clark County and the City of Las Vegas.
