WRD Receives NACWA Gold Peak Performance Award
The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) presented the Clark County Water Reclamation District with a Gold Peak Performance Award for the Central Plant and Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility. The District is the largest wastewater agency in Nevada, operating seven treatment facilities.
NACWA's Peak Performance Awards program recognizes NACWA-member agency facilities for excellence in wastewater treatment as measured by their compliance with their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
The Gold Award is to honor treatment plants that achieved 100 percent compliance during the calendar year.
"This award demonstrates the hard work of every District employee and their commitment to being good stewards of the environment" said Commissioner Larry Brown, chair of the District Board of Trustees. "By continuing to meet and exceed the NPDES permits, the District remains dedicated to protecting our community's most valuable resource, water. It is a great recognition and we're proud of our 'Clean Water Team' members."
More than 3,000 facilities are represented by members of NACWA and eligible for this award. There are more than 16,000 publicly owned wastewater treatment plants operating in the United States.
