Fire Department to Host Open House at Station 18 on Saturday, Feb. 11, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Clark County Fire Department is hosting a community open house at Fire Station 18, located at 575 E. Flamingo Road, between Paradise Road and Swenson Street, on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Fire Department hosts open houses with community partners every other month on Saturdays at different neighborhood fire stations in the County so the public can obtain fire, drowning prevention and other life-safety information. Station 18 is the largest and busiest fire station in the County and is located in Commissioner Mary Beth Scow’s District G in the southeast valley.
“The open houses are fun and educational for the whole family,” said Commissioner Scow, who plans to attend the Feb. 11 event. “They are a great way to meet the firefighters who serve your neighborhood.”
Participating agencies include Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition, Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross, Drug Enforcement Agency, Mercy Air Helicopter, Nevada Child Seekers, Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada, UNLV Healthy Homes, and staff from Clark County Business License.
The Fire Department’s fire safety house, which teaches children how to get out of their homes safely in case of fire, also will be at the event in addition to its popular “Captain Be Safe” inflatable firefighter character and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s McGruff crime dog.
“We appreciate all the public safety partners who have contributed to making these open houses a success,” said Clark County Fire Chief Bertral Washington. “We enjoy being able to welcome residents to visit our fire stations and learn about safety from our front-line firefighters and fire inspectors.”
The next open house will be held on Saturday, April 28, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Station 23, located at 4250 E. Alexander Road near Lamb Boulevard. ###
