Izel Ballet Folklorico Stages ‘Trip’ Through Mexico

Members of Izel Ballet Folklorico will take an audience on a trip through regions of Mexico during “Viaje Atravez del Folklore,” or “Travel Through Folklore,” a performance featuring the culture and music and dance styles of various regions of Mexico, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, just north of Desert Inn Road. For this concert, Yoneme, the folkloric dance group of General Lazaro Cardenas High School from Tijuana, Mexico, also performs to help present the various traditions. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 and younger.

Izel Ballet Folklorico was founded in Las Vegas six years ago by its director Roman Lizaola and has performed many times at the Winchester Theater as well as other venues throughout the Las Vegas Valley. “Izel,” translates to “rainbow lady” in the native Mexican language Nahuatl.

Included are the nation’s 8th-busiest airport, air quality compliance, social services and the state’s largest public hospital, University Medical Center. The county also provides municipal services that are traditionally provided by cities to almost 900,000 residents in the unincorporated area. Those include fire protection, roads and other public works, parks and recreation, and planning and development.
