Launched in 2001, the Park's guided school field trip program is the longest-running and most prolific program offered at the Park. Wetlands Park welcomes Clark County School District schools in Grades 3 through 5 to participate.

Guided field trips are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 1 through April 30. Students will participate in a two hour guided walk through the park led by one of our dedicated volunteer Education Facilitators. On their walk, students will learn about the Nature Preserve and the Las Vegas Wash as well as become familiar with basic concepts of biology and ecology in an engaging and hands-on learning environment.

In 2016, the Park implemented a special program for fifth grade classes that is structured to meet Next Generation Science Standards. The program provides teachers with an in-class lesson plan to present to students about food webs and energy flow prior to taking their field trip. During the field trip, Park Education Facilitators expand upon the teachers' in-class lessons by assigning students the roles of specific flora and fauna found in the Wetlands Park ecosystem to better understand how food webs and energy flow work.
