Clark County's Zap program is bringing public art to the Lone Mountain region of Las Vegas. On Tuesday, February 7th, from 6 - 8pm, the community is invited to meet the artists, learn more about the proposed works and provide feedback, at Mountain Crest Community Center, 4701 N Durango Drive, 89129. Using utility boxes as canvases, 15 local artists, selected through a juried process, will design and paint their original art, on-site. The 45 boxes to be painted are located primarily along Craig Road, Lone Mountain Road and Durango Drive, and around the Mountain Crest and Lone Mountain Regional Parks.

Painting is scheduled to begin in early March, after final artist designs are submitted and approved. Residents are encouraged to stop and talk to artists as they work, make comments, ask questions, or to simply `hang out'. The painting of the boxes will continue through the middle of May and a second open house will be held in early June to celebrate the completion--officially unveiling Zap 9 to the public.
