"Cultures of Las Vegas: The Irish," a discussion of all things Irish in the Las Vegas Valley and beyond, will debut on Clark County Television (CCTV) Sunday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. and will air throughout March.
Guest moderated by 8 News Now Investigative Reporter George Knapp, the show features Terry Murphy, former Honorary Consul of Ireland for Nevada; Diana Kenney Toogood, Southern Nevada Sons & Daughters of Erin, Brian McMullan, owner of McMullan's Irish Pub, and Dr. Cian McMahon, an author who holds joint appointment in the departments of History and Honors College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
"Historically, the Irish are known as great storytellers, in literature, poetry, and music," said Knapp. "Irish-Americans have carried on that tradition and have played key roles in both the telling and the making of the history of Nevada and the country."
"We are fortunate in Las Vegas to have such a vibrant Irish-American community and I'm glad to showcase it here," said Erik Pappa, the County's director of Public Communications. "I want to thank 8 News Now Investigative Reporter George Knapp for moderating this discussion as well as the panelists for their insights."
