'Warp & Weft' Art Exhibition by Gail Gilbert

Artist Talk and Reception
February 1, 2018
6 to 8 p.m.
Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery
500 Grand Central Parkway

Gilbert's most recent sculptures employ metal and fabric to explore the eternal counterpoint of destruction and renewal.  Interwoven lines of cloth and steel form visual melodies underscored by dense tree trunks and stones; the result is a series of moments illustrating how attrition and revival complement, enhance, and define one another as we wonder: are we looking at the inevitable fraying of time, or a new joining?

For the past twenty years Gail Gilbert has been making and exhibiting her art works, demonstrating remarkable agility with a wide variety of media. The understanding of movement she gained as a dancer informs all of her work, from whimsical ink drawings and bold portrait paintings to her dynamic and forceful
sculptural works. Warp & Weft explores the delicate balance between forces of dissolution and renewal.

In tandem with her visual arts career, Gilbert continues to perform. Currently she plays the role of the  Nursemaid in Cirque du Soleil's production of KA at the MGM Grand Casino here in Las Vegas.

The Clark County Government Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on weekends. For more information, visit or call the Public Art Office at (702) 455-8685.
