Drivers are advised to use caution and be aware of possible lane shifts on the 215 Beltway in the southwest, probably for the next year, as work is expected to begin Monday on a highway widening project there.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, March 18, work will begin on a project to add a travel lane to each side of the 215 between Decatur Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. This work is expected to take about 7 months to finish, by which time the next widening project will be underway.
Sometime this summer, construction is expected to begin on a project to add a travel lane in each direction of the 215 between Decatur and the I-15. That project is expected to take about 8 months to complete.
During both construction projects, drivers should expect periodic lane shifts, and possibly some lane closures during overnight hours.
When finished, this part of the 215 will have four lanes for through traffic on each side, in addition to merge lanes near on- and off-ramps.
