Laughlin residents are invited to meet and see the proposed artwork of sixteen artists who have been selected to paint utility boxes as part of the Zap 8 "Zapped by the River" project in Laughlin. The gathering will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, at the Spirit Mountain Activity Center in Laughlin, located at 1975 Arie Ave.
The artists were selected by an independent review panel to paint approximately 64 utility boxes in the community. The Laughlin Community Development Committee, NV Energy and the Big Bend Water District are partners in the project.
Artists will unveil design proposals at Saturday's event, and the public is welcome to meet the artists, provide feedback and learn about the proposed artwork. Zap is conceived as a neighborhood project, and artists are expected to consider in their creative process comments from neighborhood residents at the community meeting.
The selected artists will be expected to complete their paintings on the boxes by June 1, 2016, with a reception to follow sometime later that month.
The artists selected for the Zap 8 project are as follows: Myranda Bair, Mark Brandvik, Joey DeRuy, Lisa Dolan, Fawn Douglas, Ali Fathollahi, Maureen Halligan, Anne Hoff, Katie Hoffman, K.D. Matheson, Orlando Montenegro, Erica Ott, Andrea Pavles, Caitlyn Saville, Christopher Tsouras; Ozzie Villate.
