Commissioner Lawrence Weekly will co-host the 19th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Recruitment Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Doolittle Community Center at 1950 N. J St. in downtown Las Vegas.
"A college education opens doors for our young adults and sets them on a path to achieve their dreams," Commissioner Weekly said. "This college fair is a great opportunity for our high school juniors and seniors, and their parents, to learn more about historically black colleges and universities."
The college fair is free to attend, and is being presented by the United College Action Network (U-CAN) in partnership with Commissioner Weekly.
Interested high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend with their parents. High school seniors should bring several copies of their high school transcript and other documents such as their ACT or SAT scores (if available), as they will be able to complete college applications and apply for scholarships during the event.
Representatives from more than 40 colleges and universities are expected at the fair including officials from Grambling State University, Hampton University and Spelman College. Students planning on attending the college fair may pre-register online at www.gotocollegefairs.com/Nevada. (Pre-registration is not required.)
