Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Southeast Area Command, and other community partners are hosting free, fall movie nights at Whitney Park on Friday, Sept. 28, and Friday, Oct. 19.
"Smurfs The Lost Village" will be shown at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28, and "Lost & Found" at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. Whitney Park is located at 5712 Missouri Ave., just west of Boulder Highway.
"Fall is a terrific time of year to host movie nights at Whitney Park, and we welcome families to come out and enjoy the fun," said Commissioner Gibson, who represents District G, which includes the southeast Las Vegas Valley. "We truly appreciate the support that Metro, our Parks and Recreation Department, and other community partners provide in making these events a success."
Partners include the Southeast Area Command's Safety Through Outreach and Prevention (STOP) Program, Three Square, Walmart and Great Buns Bakery. All children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult to attend movie nights. Beginning a few week's prior to each movie night, parents can pick up tickets for food and beverages at the Whitney Recreation Center's front desk. Free hamburgers, hotdogs and popcorn are offered at movie nights starting 30 minutes before showtime. Participants should bring blankets, lawn chairs and pillows to watch the movies comfortably.
Residents can contact District G's office at (702) 455-8531 if they have any questions about the series. District G residents also can sign up to receive a free email newsletter via the County's website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov.
