Commission Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick is hosting a community festival with free food, music and other entertainment from 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 3 (a Friday) at Shadow Rock Park at 2650 Los Feliz St.
"More than 2,000 residents celebrated Cinco de Mayo with us last year, and we are expecting a great crowd again this year," Chairman Kirkpatrick said. "There will be free food, music and games at our annual festival, so please bring your family and friends to Shadow Rock Park on May 3rd."
This is Chairman Kirkpatrick's third annual festival celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The festival is free to attend and everything at the festival is free. The event is supported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Northeast Area Command.
In addition to the food, the event will feature Clark County's Mojave Max, performances by the Sunrise High School mariachi band, vendor booths from more than 50 community organizations, boxing and martial arts exhibitions, bounce houses for children, and live music.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of the date of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867).
