The County will hold an online auction from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, to try to sell 17 properties with a combined 160 acres.
The properties are surplus lands currently under the County Department of Aviation, and they are generally located west and southwest of McCarran International Airport. Most of the properties are within the Cooperative Management Agreement boundary, and all are subject to the permissible use restrictions updated in 2013. These use restrictions are based on the location of the specific property in relation to the current flight path noise contours.
Additional information about the auction and the parcels listed for sale is available at www.mccarran.com/auction. Anyone interested in placing a bid must register online by Nov. 6 and submit a participation deposit by wire transfer. The amount of the bidder deposit is different for each property and ranges from $10,000 to $25,000. Starting bids for each property will be based on their appraised value. The website includes details regarding how to register for the auction, the minimum bid required for each sales unit, how to submit a bid, escrow instructions, and the due diligence documents associated with each sales unit.
Proceeds from the sale of this land are subject to the provisions of the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and will be distributed as prescribed, with 85 percent of proceeds going to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Special Account, 5 percent to the Nevada Education Fund and 10 percent to the Department of Aviation for airport development and noise mitigation.
