The Clark County Public Works Department is hosting open houses on March 18 and 19 to inform the community of an upcoming Maryland Parkway repaving project, and provide information about a project to repave parts of Eastern Avenue.
Work is expected to begin later this month on projects to repave Maryland between Russell Road and Twain Avenue, and Eastern between Flamingo and Desert Inn.
The first Maryland Parkway Reconstruction Public Meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 18 (a Monday) at the Clark County Library at 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
The second meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 19 (a Tuesday) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Student Union at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Work is expected to begin on or around March 25 on both Maryland and Eastern. The projects are expected to be complete in the fall.
During construction there will be lane closures and lane shifts that will reduce the number of through lanes at various times. Portions of Maryland will be limited to one lane in each direction some nights. Both streets are expected to accommodate two travel lanes in each direction during daytime hours. Both roads usually have three lanes in each direction.
The projects include significant reconstruction of the pavement, new medians, improvements to some sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and a new traffic signal at Cottage Grove Road and Maryland Parkway.
