Eastbound 215 Closing Overnight Monday at the Airport Connector

Eastbound 215 will be closed overnight Monday between the exit for Sunset Road and McCarran International Airport (Exit 10) and Warm Springs Road (Exit 9). Drivers will be able to get to the airport, but anyone not headed to the airport on 215 east should use an earlier exit to get off the highway and take an alternate route to go towards Henderson.

The ramp connecting the Airport Connector south to 215 east, which carries traffic leaving the airport towards Henderson, will also be closed overnight Monday, as will the Sunset Road ramp off the Airport Connector.

The closures will begin at 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, and last until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Drivers should expect significant delays in this area during the closures.

            Some suggested alternate routes include:

  • Eastbound 215 traffic not headed to the airport should get off the 215 at Jones, Decatur or Las Vegas boulevards.

  • Drivers headed from the I-15 to 215 east and not headed to the airport should get off I-15 at Blue Diamond Road or St. Rose Parkway.

No closures are scheduled for 215 west, or for the Airport Connector south to 215 west during this time.

The closures are necessary for crews to finish installing parts of a new flyover off-ramp that goes over the 215. This work required a full closure of the 215 in this area last weekend.

This work is part of the Phase 2 – Airport Connector Project, which includes construction of the new flyover ramp and bridge connecting southbound Airport Connector to eastbound 215, widening the off-ramp from eastbound 215 to Warm Springs Road and construction of a new bridge for that off-ramp, and the widening of a bridge carrying westbound 215 traffic over the Airport Connector. The entire project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2017.

Ongoing lane restrictions and closures related to this project include the closure of the ramp that brings traffic from Sunset Road to the southbound Airport Connector, lane reductions on southbound Airport Connector, and access to the northbound Airport Connector from George Crockett Road remains closed. Also, the ramp bringing traffic from westbound Warm Springs Road to westbound 215 will remain closed most nights until mid-March.

The Public Works Department has set up a page on Clark County's website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/PubWorks to provide details about the project. The public can also contact the department at (702) 455-6000 or via email at InTheWorks@ClarkCountyNV.gov for information.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor for this project, which is being funded in part through Fuel Revenue Indexing. Fuel Revenue Indexing takes a portion of what motorists pay at the pump to fund critical transportation projects. For the average motorist, the cost is about a dime a day to generate up to $700 million to fund 220 projects and create approximately 9,000 jobs. For more information, go to www.rtcsnv.com/fri. To date, Fuel Revenue Indexing has made it possible for local governments to award 138 contracts with a combined value of more than $328 million and creating 4,231 jobs.
