The installation of more than 3,000 more bollards along Las Vegas Boulevard is scheduled to begin early Tuesday, May 28.
During the past two years, the County has put in about 1,600 bollards there. When this new round of installations is complete in late July, there will be approximately 4,600 steel bollards lining the Strip sidewalks from Sahara Avenue to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign.
The bollards are 4-foot-tall steel posts secured in the ground that are designed to stop a vehicle.
Construction of this phase of the project is expected to begin around 2 a.m. Tuesday, with regular work hours lasting from 2 to 10 a.m. on weekdays. Drivers should expect some lane shifts and lane closures during construction hours.
The contractors for this project are Las Vegas Paving, UNICON and MMC. In order to get the bollards installed faster, the County divided the work into separate contracts that will be underway simultaneously.
