Jazz Quartet to Perform Jan. 19

​       Quarteto Nuevo merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin and jazz with an organic feel at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, just north of Desert Inn Road. Tickets are $11 in advanced and $13 on concert day and can be purchased from the website at or the Winchester front desk.

       Quarteto Nuevo's master musicians include Damon Zick on soprano saxophone; Jacob Szekely on cello; Kenton Youngstrom on guitar; and Felipe Fraga on percussion creating the ensemble's razor-sharp precision, which is enhanced by jazzy interludes, lightly rumbling percussion motifs and mesmerizing rhythms.  They effectively meld the music of ancient worlds and faraway places with a contemporary groove that enchants audiences of all ages.
