Judge Bonaventure to Discuss Kickoff of Community Impact Center at Metro's First Tuesday

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Convention Center Area Command will welcome Justice Court Chief Judge Joe Bonaventure to the First Tuesday event at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, to discuss the Las Vegas Township Community Impact Center which has a soft start date mid-month.  A permanent location is currently being sought close to the geographic community which is the resort corridor that encompasses Las Vegas Boulevard from Sahara Avenue to Russell Road.

Convention Center Area Command is located at 750 Sierra Vista; Las Vegas, NV  89169

The Las Vegas Township Justice Court is one of 10 sites that was selected in April 2016 to receive a grant to create a Restorative Justice Program from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance in partnership with the Center for Court Innovation.  A goal of the initiative is to reduce recidivism by assisting low-level, non-violent offenders with individualized services and making them accountable for their actions by performing community service and restitution to the neighborhood and community in which they offended.

Las Vegas Township Justice Court is collaborating with Clark County management, Clark County justice partners, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and a myriad of community service programs and providers.

The new community program is scheduled to begin as a pilot at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Regional Justice Center.  Subsequent sessions will occur weekly on Thursday mornings.
