The on- and off-ramps at the 215 and Losee Road in the northern valley will close for three months beginning Tuesday, Aug. 20, as crews reconfigure the interchange now that the new section of highway is open there.
Traffic on the 215 will not be affected by this closure thanks to the new section of highway that goes under Losee.
Drivers who would have entered or exited the 215 at Losee, are encouraged to use the interchanges at North 5th Street or Pecos Road during this construction, which is expected to begin at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Losee will be closed to northbound traffic at Deer Springs during construction as the 215 is the only connecting road north of there. Also, the Lamb Road exit for drivers heading west on the 215 remains closed.
The construction prompting these closures is part of the Northern Beltway improvement project, which will turn the 215 into a full freeway from North 5th Street to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks just west of Range Road. The project includes new interchanges and bridges at Losee, Pecos and Lamb, plus new medians, high-mast lighting and drainage facilities.
Drivers are advised to pay attention to roadside message boards for changes to traffic patterns.
Las Vegas Paving is the contractor on the project, which is expected to be complete in 2020.
