Vegas Strong Resiliency Center to be Managed by Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada

Starting March 5, 2019, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada will begin overseeing day-to-day operations of the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center. The Clark County Commission voted to transfer administrative and client support duties to the Legal Aid Center to provide ongoing services to victims of the 1 October tragedy.

"We are proud of the strong partnership between the County and Legal Aid Center," said Barbara Buckley, Esq., executive director, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. "The County has undertaken tremendous work to aid survivors and victims. Our team is pleased to continue to provide tailored support to ensure victims are provided the services they need to heal and recover."

Clark County and agency partners, including the Legal Aid Center and state of Nevada, opened the Resiliency Center on Oct. 23, 2017. The center is expected to remain open until at least May 30, 2021. It provides free resources and support to anyone affected by the attack including survivors, family members of victims, responders, and those who witnessed the incident or tried to assist victims. To date, the center has served more than 8,000 people. Services include victim advocacy and support; legal consultations for civil legal matters such as debt collection, foreclosure, insurance claims and family law issues.

"We are committed to continuing our efforts to serve anyone affected by the 1 October incident," said Clark County Commission Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick. "Counseling referrals and legal assistance continue to be the top needs of victims. We are confident that our partners at the Legal Aid Center will continue to provide high-quality, seamless service to clients as they have since day one of our operations."

There will be no disruption in services during or after the transfer of management. Legal Aid Center is also seeking a full-time victim advocate/navigator for the Resiliency Center.
