Event Overview
Clark County and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will co-host a Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony to honor the lives lost and the strength shown in the aftermath of the October 1, 2017, tragedy on the Las Vegas Strip. The public is invited to attend this commemorative event.
Program Highlights Include:
- Southern Nevada Multiagency Honor Guard
- A moment of silence
- Remarks by:
- Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo
- Clark County Commission Chairman Tick Segerblom
- Sheriff Kevin McMahill, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
- Jeff Poole, father of victim Keri Lynn Galvan
- Live acoustic performance of “The Fight” by Bryan Hopkins of Elvis Monroe, a Route 91 survivor
Seating:
Limited seating will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Broadcast & Streaming
The ceremony will be broadcast live on:
- Clark County Television (CCTV) on Cox Channel 4 in Las Vegas, Channel 14 in Laughlin, Channel 4 in Boulder City, and Digital Channel 50.3 in Moapa Valley
- Clark County YouTube Channel, Facebook Page, and X (formerly Twitter) Channel
It may also be carried by local news media. A recording will be available for on-demand viewing on Clark County’s YouTube and Facebook pages later in the day.
Post-Event Exhibit
Following the ceremony, guests are invited to view the “Remembering 1 October” exhibit in the Rotunda Gallery (inside the Government Center). The exhibit, on display from Sept. 29 through Oct. 9, showcases items from the Clark County Museum’s 1 October collection, including banners, letters, cowboy hats, stuffed animals, and other tribute items left at public memorials.
