Clark County and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will host the annual 1 October Sunrise Remembrance ceremony on the ninth anniversary of the shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. The community is invited to honor those who were lost, the survivors and the strength and unity shown by Southern Nevada following the tragedy.
The ceremony will feature:
- The Southern Nevada Multiagency Honor Guard
- A minute of silence
- Remarks from Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo
- Remarks from Sheriff Kevin McMahill
- Remarks from Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft
- Remarks from Debby Allen, whose son, Christopher Roybal, was killed in the shooting
- An acoustic performance of “Scars in Heaven” by Roybal’s brother, Jayson Williams
Limited seating will be available. Attendees may wish to bring lawn chairs.
Following the ceremony, the public may visit the “Remembering 1 October” exhibit in the Government Center’s first-floor Rotunda Gallery. On display from Sept. 28 through Oct. 8, the exhibit will feature items from the Clark County Museum’s 1 October collection, including banners, letters, cowboy hats, stuffed animals and other mementos left throughout the community as expressions of grief and support.
Watch live: The ceremony will be broadcast on Clark County Television and streamed on the County’s YouTube, Facebook and X channels. A recording will be available later that day on YouTube and Facebook.
