Description: Experience the rich heritage of Black elegance and community at the opening of the African American Cotillions: History, Culture & Tradition exhibit. This special event explores the enduring legacy of cotillions and highlights the influential roles of Les Femmes Douze and Alpha Kappa Alpha-sponsored events in preserving cultural traditions. The evening will feature a Juneteenth address and lecture by renowned cotillion historian and exhibit curator Dr. Nikita Y. Harris, offering insights into the significance of cotillions in African American history and community life.
