Jeff WellsJuly2017_265x400Jeff Wells is an Deputy County Manager for Clark County, NV.  His responsibilities include the departments of Juvenile Justice and Detention services. His other direct reports include the Public Guardian, Coroner/Medical Examiner, Public Administrator, the Special Public Defender, the District Attorney's Office, the Office of Appointed Counsel, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Citizens Review Board, and he works with the County’s Judicial Departments, Law Library and the Constables.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy County Manager, Mr. Wells served as a Cabinet Officer in Colorado and was both Director of the Department of Labor and the Department of Personnel and Administration.
Mr. Wells is a lawyer by training and has a Juris Doctorate degree and a MBA from Florida State University, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Duke University.

Mr. Wells has more than 30 years experience in both law and government including being a partner in a private law practice as well as serving for several years as an administrative law judge. Mr. Wells also served in the Colorado State Senate for 16 years and was elected by his peers as Senate Majority Leader for 12 years.

Mr. Wells serves on the following committees: Nevada Supreme Court Indigent Defense Commission, Policy and Fiscal Affairs Committee for Juvenile Justice, Initial Appearance Subcommittee, Criminal Justice Coordinating Counsel, Indigent Defense Commission, County staff to Metro Fiscal Affairs, Chair of Domestic Violence Subcommittee, and was appointed by Gov. Steve Sisolak to the Board on Indigent Defense Services.
