Building Violations-Single Family Residential

ACCESSORY BUILDINGS
An accessory buildings shall not be used for residential purposes, nor have a kitchen. Accessory buildings include but are not limited to garage, workshop, shed, game room, pool house or cabana.

BLOCK WALLS
Building permits are required for residential perimeter block walls over 24 inches in height. An administrative deviation is required from Comprehensive Planning for block walls over six (6) feet in height.

CARPORTS/SHADE STRUCTURES/COVERED PATIOS
Building permits are required for all free standing and attached structures including carports, shade structures and patio covers. Permit applications must be submitted to the Clark County Building Department and are subject to zoning setback requirements.

CASITAS
“Casita” means a separate structure located on a lot with a dwelling without a kitchen that is used for residential purposes.

FENCES
All fences over six (6) feet in height require a building permit.

ILLEGAL STRUCTURES
Accessory buildings, casitas, carports, shade structures, covered patios, and room additions constructed without valid building permits are illegal, regardless of the age of the structures. Proper permits must be obtained, and proper zoning setbacks must be met.

SHEDS
Sheds over 200 square feet require a building permit. All sheds must comply with zoning setbacks.
