Clark County understands that expanding broadband access is only part of the equation for empowering our community in today’s digital world. In addition to improving connectivity, we are committed to helping our residents develop the skills necessary to succeed in the digital economy. The County plays a vital role in facilitating connections between individuals and local partners who offer essential training programs, resources, and career development opportunities within the broadband and technology sectors.
Workforce Outlook
Nevada faces challenges in meeting the demand for fiber splicers and other broadband roles. In fact, the state has identified gaps in its workforce training infrastructure, which contributes to labor shortages in various sectors, including broadband.[1] Federal programs such as the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) initiative are expected to generate up to 230,000 new jobs nationwide in broadband infrastructure, many of which will be fiber splicing positions.[2] In the near term, there is an urgent shortage of approximately 58,000 tradespeople required to support ongoing broadband deployment projects, many offering salaries above the Clark County median income.[3]
Nevada Average Salary
- Clark County Average Annual Salary: Approximately $59,214.[4]
- Fiber Splicer Technician Salary Range: Between $45,616 and $79,389, with most professionals earning between $51,482 and $69,159.[5]
- Fiber Optics Technician Salary Range: The average annual salary for fiber optics technicians is $70,322, with a typical range between $61,088 and $78,242.[6]
- Cable Installer Salary Range: Approximately $66,541, with a typical range between $58,946 and $79,454.[7]
By acting as a bridge between residents and workforce development organizations and opportunities, Clark County is helping to build a stronger, more digitally capable workforce that will support the region’s continued growth in the digital economy.
