The Clark County Building Department is located at 4701 W. Russell Road (on the corner of Cameron and Russell, one traffic light east of Decatur).

Can plan submittal be mailed?
No. All plan submittals received via U.S. mail or private carrier will not be accepted.

What are the requirements for issuance of permits?
Permits Issued to Contractor:
For a contractor to obtain a permit, he/she must have both a current Nevada State Contractor's License and a current Multi-Jurisdictional County Business License.
For a contractor to obtain a permit, he/she must have both a current Nevada State Contractor's License and a current Multi-Jurisdictional County Business License.
When using a pre-printed company check, the company name must exactly match the name on the Contractor's License. If the company is using a DBA/Fictitious name that name must also appear on the check.
If payment is to be made by other than a pre-printed company check, the following is required:
1. An original current NV State Contractor’s Card (not a facsimile or a copy) of the company licensed to pull the permit.
or
2. A letter from the licensed contractor on company letterhead must include the following information: Permit number, project address, name of the a company employee authorized to sign the application, check number and name of the owner/tenant who’s check is being used. Also, it must be signed by company principal or authorized representative. (Signatory of the letter must be a different than the person granted authorization to sign application and pull permit).
No third party checks will be accepted, only checks associated with the project (i.e. current property owner or tenant) accordingly.
Permits issued to an owner/builder:
1. Owner can pay with his/her personal check or cash, and will be required to complete an owner/builder affidavit to certify proof of ownership.
or
2. The property owner can grant permission for an agent to act on their behalf by submitting a one-time use, dated and notarized letter authorizing a specific person to obtain permits and sign all required documents.
What is the payment policy for permit issue?
If permit is issued to a owner/builder:
1. Must pay with property owner’s personal check or cash, and will be required to complete an owner/builder affidavit to certify proof of ownership.
OR
2. If the owner is not able to come into our office to pick up the permit, he/she must submit a notarized letter authorizing a specific person to act on his behalf for the one-time issuance of the permit. This authorizes the agent to sign all documents required for issuance of the permit.
How do I renew an expired permit?
- Fill-out a new appropriate permit application
- In the description of work state “Renewal of Permit”
- Bring the completed application to the Permit Issue section, at which time the fees will be determined and a renewal permit will be issued.
How do I renew an expired grading or sign permit?
- Fill-out a new building or sign permit application
- In the description of work state “Renewal of Permit”
- Bring the completed application and the original Clark County approved red stamped plans to the Permit Issue section. The submittal will be routed for approvals and customer notified when ready to pick-up and renewal permit issued.
How do I determine the renewal fees of an expired permit?
- If a permit has been expired for less than 1-year from the original issuance date or the last approved inspection, the fees charged will be ½ of the permit fee originally paid. The minimum permit fee is $54.00.
- If a permit has been expired for more than 1-year from the original issuance date or the last approved inspection, the full permit fee originally charged will be paid.
- The permit fees charged do not include any development fees.
22.02.325 Renewal of Permits. Before work can be recommenced, upon the expiration of a permit, a permit renewal shall be obtained, and the fee, therefore, shall be one half the amount required for an initial permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will be made in the original approved construction documents. The permit(s) will be re-examined to ensure accordance with Sections 22.02.220 and 22.02.235, including verification of water and sanitation service Renewal of a permit issued prior to the current code cycle will only be allowed when authorized by the Building Official.
After one year (365 days) following the last approved inspection or since the issue date of the permit(s), the permit applicant must file an application for new permit(s) in accordance with Sections 22.02.220 through 22.02.235, including a new verification of water and sanitation service and pay full permit fees as applicable. After expiration, construction documents submitted for review may be returned to the applicant or destroyed by the Building Official.
Exception: Annual facility permits and permits for billboard and temporary signs, stockpile, temporary power poles, ATS and cellular towers are not eligible for renewal. The applicant must file for a new permit.
