Emergency Solutions Grant
Clark County is committed to ending homelessness by ensuring access to resources for unsheltered individuals and those at-risk of homelessness. The County commits a portion of its own funds as well as administers federally funded grant programs to address the needs of our community members in need. One of these programs is the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
What Is the ESG Program?
The Emergency Solutions Grant program, formerly the Emergency Shelter Grants program, is a competitive grant that awards federal funds to nonprofit organizations in Clark County. These organizations provide necessary services to assist people who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of homelessness to quickly regain stability. The ESG program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Please note, the ESG program only awards funds to organizations, not individuals seeking assistance. For a list of organizations providing ESG-funded services please refer to the resource guides below:
Eligible Activities
Listed below are the allowable activities under the ESG Program:
- Street Outreach
- Emergency Shelters
- Rapid Re-Housing
- Homeless Prevention
- HMIS
Please note, Clark County prescribes the focus areas for the ESG program each year from the list of allowable activities above each year. The program focus can shift from year to year based upon community needs and priorities.
Application Process
The Clark County Community Housing Office releases an application to apply for ESG funds with guidelines annually. This announcement is normally released in November but is subject to change.
The ESG program is complex with different requirements including specific eligibility and reporting. Organizations interested in applying for the Clark County ESG program are advised to carefully review the program requirements established by HUD.
