Who can open a Child Support case in our office?
- Parent that has custody of the child(ren)
- Parent paying child support
- A caretaker (a non-parent who has the child(ren) in their custody)
- Legal guardian
- A case will automatically be opened if you are a TANF recipient
How do I open a Child Support case?
- You can complete an application and send it to or office
- In person/mail at 1900 E Flamingo Rd STE 100 Las Vegas NV 89119

Is there a fee to open a case?
There is no cost to apply but there is an annual fee of $35 in each case where an individual has never received TANF and the State has collected at least $550 of child support within the Federal Fiscal year (October 1st through September 30th). The fee is automatically deducted from your payment(s).
What documents and/or forms do you need to provide to our office?
- You will need to provide our office with copies of any and all existing orders, birth certificates, proof of health insurance coverage and costs for the minor child(ren) and receipts for child care expenses, if applicable.
- You may also need to complete the Declaration in Support of Establishing Parentage when child’s parents were never married or when there is no father listed on the child’s birth certificate.
What information is needed about the Non-Custodial Parents?
- The date of birth and social security number, if possible
- Photos or physical description – any tattoos, scars and/or birthmarks
- Current or last known residential address and any employment information
- Providing the most accurate and reliable information helps move the case forward
How will you know when a case has been opened?
In approximately 20 business days both parties will receive a letter regarding an open case in our office.
