Apply for Child Support Services
Who Can Apply
You can apply for services if you are:
- A parent who lives with the child(ren)
- A parent who is paying support
- A caretaker (non-parent who has the child(ren) in their custody)
- A legal guardian
Receiving TANF?
- If you are receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), you do not need to apply. A child support case will be opened automatically.
What You’ll Need
To complete your application, you will need the following information:
- Details about yourself, the child(ren) and the other parent
- A copy of your divorce decree or other court order (if applicable)
- If you are not the child’s parent, documentation proving legal custody or guardianship

Cost of Services
- No Fee to apply
Federal Annual Fee
- If you have never received TANF benefits and at least $550 in child support is collected between October 1st and September 30th, a $35 annual fee will be charged. This fee is automatically deducted from your child support payments.
What Happens Next?
- Approximately 20 business days after your application is received, you will be notified by mail that your case has been opened. You may be contacted to provide additional information.
